Dr. Shahid Qureshi

Dr. Shahid Qureshi is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of entrepreneurship. He has served as a faculty member at several prestigious institutions, including the Technical University of Berlin, Kempten University in Germany, SP Jain School of Global Management in Dubai, Frankfurt School of Finance, Toulouse Business School in France, and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.
From 2010 to 2022, Dr. Qureshi was the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) and a Professor at IBA Karachi. Currently, he is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and the Rector of GIFT University in Gujranwala, Pakistan, where he leads initiatives to transform the university into an entrepreneurial institution, engaging over 8,000 students in entrepreneurial learning and activities.
Dr. Qureshi holds a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the Technical University of Berlin, an MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from UET Lahore. He is also a fellow of Babson Business School, with specialized training in entrepreneurship pedagogy, research, and the development of entrepreneurial centers.

Dr. Shahid Qureshi has been a transformative force in promoting an entrepreneurial mindset throughout Pakistan, particularly in higher education institutions and various outreach projects. His extensive work has spanned across universities, vocational centers, public and private sectors, and international platforms, significantly contributing to fostering entrepreneurship across the country.
Dr. Qureshi has consulted at national and international levels to help establish entrepreneurial centers and build capacity in institutions such as AJK University, Malakand University, IBA Sukkur, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro, GIFT University Gujranwala, Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology Khuzdar, and the National University of Textile Engineering Faisalabad. He has worked with the Sri Lankan Federation of Chambers of Commerce, conducting a workshop on family business and entrepreneurship in Colombo, and collaborating with technical and vocational centers in Pakistan to foster an entrepreneurial culture.

Dr. Qureshi’s research focuses on entrepreneurship, technology-based firms, and entrepreneurial universities. His work has been published in respected journals such as the Journal of Technology Transfer, the Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, and the International Journal of Business and Social Science. He has led research projects on transferring entrepreneurship education best practices from business schools to engineering and technology institutions and has contributed to books on business incubation and acceleration.

  • Women Entrepreneurship Project, Kazakhstan: Capacity building of master trainers and women entrepreneurs in Almaty and Astana, Kazakhstan.

Sarasvathy authored Effectuation: Elements of Entrepreneurial Expertise and co-authored Effectual Entrepreneurship and Made, as Well as Found. She holds a B.Com. from the University of Bombay and an MSIA and Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University.
